The D-Day Darlings are ‘In The Mood’ for paying tribute to World War Two during Chesterfield’s Forties and Vintage Weekend.

They will perform their show Songs That Won The War at 2pm on Sunday, February 23, at the town’s Chesterfield Pomegranate Theatre.

Kicking off on February 21, Chesterfield Borough Council will once again showcase history and entertainment across three venues. Last year’s record breaking numbers saw Chesterfield Theatres and Chesterfield Museum & Art Gallery step back to the 1940s and explore the music, song, dance, fashion and aspects of everyday life in wartime Britain.

The D-Day Darlings are excited to be performing their nostalgic show during the weekend. Katie Ashby, the show’s director, who plays the role of Sylvia Spencer in the production said: “We are really looking forward to performing at Chesterfield as part of this year’s tour to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

“It is so reassuring to us that the enthusiasm we have for the inspiring era of wartime Britain is also shared by many others, and I think that events like these are perfect for recognising the patriotic and celebratory spirit that kept our nation strong despite hard times.”

The show tells a story of a vocal-harmony trio seeking to get their big break during World War Two.

Tickets are £13 general admission, £11 concessions and group bookings of ten or more can be purchased at £10 per ticket. To book, call 01246 345222.
