Two stories link the continents

Live and Local’s season in Holloway comes to an end on Thursday, March 24, with the Dodgy Clutch Theatre Company’s production of Xolisile’s Song.

This is a rich visual show combining talented performers from North East England and South Africa who use dance, drama and live music in a touching piece of theatre.

Two stories from across the world are linked by a common theme: hope – and by the journey of the swallow which connects them. Sisi is a young woman from South Africa, in search of her older brother who left the village to travel north. Tommy Bell is a blacksmith. When the mines in North East England were shut down, his way of life came to an end. The ghosts of the past still haunt him but his memory of the swallow makes him understand that his anger and disappointment are holding him back.

The show starts at 7.30pm in the Florence Nightingale Memorial Hall, Holloway. Details and tickets are available from Dave on 01773 856545.
