Most people have had their fair share of bad dates - and television presenter Claire Sweeney is no exception.
“I’m the woman who goes on all those dodgy dates looking for love and then reaches a stage in life when she would like to settle down and become a mum!” she said.
Motherhood arrived last year when Claire gave birth to son Jaxon. But wedding bells won’t be ringing any time soon for Claire and Jaxon’s dad, Daniel Riley. “We’ve no plans for that at all,” she said. “ We’re taking every day as it comes with Jaxon and I’m full-on being a mum and preparing for my UK tour.”
The tour is Sex in Suburbia, a comedy about nightmare dates, written by Claire and close friend Mandy Muden. Claire, who has presented Celebrity Big Brother. “The idea came from all the appallingly bad dates my friends and I have ever experienced. We’d tell each other what had happened and get over the horror of the experiences by laughing about them.
“About two years ago, Mandy and I started writing them all down with the notion of turning them into a comedy. At first we weren’t even sure if we were funny! But the play went down a storm with the audiences last year when it first opened in Liverpool.”
Sex in Suburbia comes to Chesterfield’s Winding Wheel on March 8, at 7.30pm. Tickets £23.50 and £21.50.
We have two tickets to give away. Tell us the name of Claire’s baby and email your answer, marking Comedy in subject line, with your contact details to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries close March 4.
