Shed Seven drummer hosts Y Not virtual quiz with competitors Frank Turner, Walt Disco, The Hara, Patawawa

A host of well-known acts who were due to perform at the now cancelled Y Not Festival this weekend have gone head-to-head in a virtual quiz which will be screened as part of the festival’s new online event.

The acts who feature in the quiz include: punk and folk singer-songwriter Frank Turner; pop-punk band Walt Disco; rock trio The Hara; enigmatic singer-songwriter Li Laurent; indie-disco sensations Patawawa; Sheffield four-piece The Wired; Bernard Thresher from comedy folk band The Lancashire Hotpots; teenage singing sensation Joey Greener; Kiaran Crook of The Sherlocks; singer-songwriter Rick Witter and bassist Tom Gladwin from indie legends Shed Seven.

Hosted by Shed Seven drummer and SpeedQuizzing co-founder Alan Leach, the quiz will be available to watch from the Y Not Festival’s Facebook page tonight (Friday,July 24), as part of a huge programme of virtual events which kicks off from 5.30pm.

It follows the usual SpeedQuizzing format, with players given just ten seconds to answer each of the music-themed questions over a number of fast-paced rounds, with the quickest person to answer correctly gaining bonus points.

Commenting on the quiz, Shed Seven’s Alan Leach said: “Like all of the other performers, we’re gutted not to be playing Y Not Festival this weekend and we’re already counting down the days until the next one.

“We wanted to do something to support the brilliant virtual festival programme that the team at Y Not are laying on for fans and thought a quiz would be a great way to bring together some of the acts who were due to perform on the various stages.

“What followed was a fiercely fought, good-humoured contest, and we hope that it brings some enjoyment and festival vibes to fans watching at home.”

The Y Not At Home free virtual festival begins tonight and will run on Saturday, July 25, from 3pm. It will feature exclusive performances, artist takeovers and more, with the likes of Ash, The Sherlocks, The Amazons all set to join in on the fun.
