Virtual Easter egg hunt in the city

A Derby company has devised an innovative Easter egg trail around the city’s Cathedral Quarter – combining children’s love of digital technology and chocolate.

Creative digital specialists Greendog Media in Friar Gate Studios have designed Derby’s Digital Easter.

The free app can be downloaded onto a smartphone from the Apple or Android App Stores or from the website and then used to follow five clues around the area – scanning QR codes along the way.

Everyone who completes the trail between April 12-27 will be presented with an Easter egg – the first 150 donated by Thorntons.

They will then be automatically entered into a prize draw.

First prize is a Nexus 7 tablet donated by Greendog. Runners up prizes include five family portrait experiences and an 8” framed print from Firefly Photography.

Greendog specialise in digital design and development, working with such companies as Fujifilm and Mars Drinks and locally with the Cathedral Quarter.

Creative director Laura Parry explained: “Young children are so media savvy nowadays and enjoy chocolate at this traditional time of year, so Derby’s Digital Easter is the best of both worlds.”
